Staying on the theme of cleansing crystals this week, I noticed the other day that my amethyst bed for cleansing my personal pendants and softer crystals was looking a bit lack lustre, even after being cleansed itself in water. When I placed it alongside the smaller amethyst bed I use when I’m travelling, which is much newer, I realised just how tired looking it was, as shown in the image below.
Even when crystals are being regularly cleansed they can reach the point where they need prolonged resting, or have simply done their job, and it's time to return them to the Earth. Sometimes you just intuitively know which of these is the case, or if you are not sure it is best to place them outside. This can be in a secluded spot in the garden, if you have one, or on an external window sill or balcony, as long as there is no danger of them falling off onto anyone from a height.
After a few weeks being rested and exposed to the elements its remarkable how some crystals can regain their energy and vibrancy. However if this doesn’t happen return them to the earth with gratitude for the healing they have brought you and with joy, knowing that they have fulfilled their purpose here on Earth. Sometimes they just disappear themselves, a sure sign they have completed their work!
Crystals can be returned to the earth by planting them into the soil or under rocks, somewhere that feels appropriate, placing them in a river or stream, or throwing them, with respect, into the sea. I am going to place this particular amethyst bed in our garden for a while, but feel this beautiful crystal may well have done its job in which case it will be placed into the sea, my preferred option here in Orkney.
